Artist in Residence

Dynamic Drawing at Grafton Regional Gallery   Kellie O’Dempsey was the artist in residence at Grafton Regional Gallery December 2011. Kellie is a live performance drawing and installation artist who captures dynamic gestural line work using traditional drawing materials. Her vibrant approach includes interdisciplinary collaboration with other performance artists and musicians. Kellie worked at Grafton Regional Gallery and in a specially set up studio space at The Link Grafton Shopping World. The community were warmly invited to interact with Kellie and participate in one of the public programs that she will conduct as part of her residence. Kellie is a member of The Drawing Group who will be conducting a drawing session in the Studio gallery 1pm-4pm Wednesday 7 December. The group is comprised of established North Coast artists will regularly meet to draw and share their artistic practice. This once off meeting in Grafton is offered as part of Kellie’s residence and members of the public are invited to come and interact with the group during the session. The culmination of the residence was two live performances drawings. The first at the Link Grafton Shopping World with a second performance at  at the Grafton Regional Gallery.

Each performance will included live music by sound artist Michael Dick, multi-media projections and dynamic drawing which responds to the audience place and atmosphere.   The Artist in Residence program is possible through the support of Arts NSW, Grafton Shopping World and No.1 Duke Street.
